Before you read, turn up your speakers to “Girl and the Sea,” by Aussie electro duo The Presets. This song is several summers old, and I love it.

“Last year I went to Miami for the first time ever, as part of a fashion press trip, and stayed for Art Basel. I didn’t want to love it, but I did. It’s a place that feels forever bright and unburdened by taste or irony. And it’s beautiful in its own tacky way: all the pastel facades, the palm trees, the mountainous pineapple cocktails. This year I went just for Basel, with my world-best friend Adrian. He’s approximately the colour of white chocolate and was terrified he’d get a tan; he wore Doc Martens on the beach. We had fun anyway. This storyboard is brought to you by my experiences, and it’s about the breeze, the sunbleached glory, and the “art deco-dence” of America’s uncoolest major city.”

1. Navy stripes, timeless and seaworthy. Shirt, $75, by A.P.C @ The Webster Miami
Nuh-uh. Skirt, $don’t even want to know, by Mary Katrantzou. I’m at that point where it’s been long enough since Canadian Thanksgiving, and close enough to American Thanksgiving and Christmas, to start craving the tastes and scents and sounds of the holidays.
I’m at that point where it’s been long enough since Canadian Thanksgiving, and close enough to American Thanksgiving and Christmas, to start craving the tastes and scents and sounds of the holidays. I’m a sucker for anything pumpkin – pumpkins to me signify the changing of leaves and of wardrobes to knits and wools, the gathering of family, the start of fireplace season, my Dad’s Sinatra collection playing on the stereo (my Brother could sing “I’ve got you under my skin” word for word by the time he was 8), and of scents of cinnamon filling my home. Pumpkin pie has been my favourite treat ever since I was a little girl – I was a picky kid and my Grandma made me my own special custard pots as I hated the crust – but a recent trip to Loving Cup, a cute little rice pudding shop in San Francisco, has me itching to explore new, warm and fuzzy evoking, sweet pumpkin treats.
